That's right, "It'll bust your crank and leave skid marks on your soul." And somehow all I remembered from the game was the opening line: "Prepare to qualify." Clearly, Pole Position was a precursor to Grand Theft Auto, whose catchphrase could be, "You can snort crank and leave slap marks on your ho."
